aero With A Dot, Period…

Interview and Article by: AMBITO

What is in your heart?

“AERON, my son, keeps me hustlin’, he is my inspiration why I do what I do.

My hunger to do music is what feeds me. My satisfaction comes whenever I finish tracks or whenever I release mixtapes but I never get full, I wanna keep goin’ and keep doing what I do and the natural feeling is…I can’t stop.”

What makes you stand out and what makes you special?

“First and foremost, I am a fan of Hip-Hop so when people see me perform, all they see is heart and my voice has a lot of impact.”

“aero. with a dot means aero., period.” There’s no doubt; when people get to read this particular article, a lot of aero.’s supporters will have a sigh of relief! It’s about time, and this article should’ve been done a long, long time ago! Nevertheless, I’m proud to have been able to sit down and have a real interview with the man.

His voice alone is a force to not be reckoned with and when I first heard of an aero. track, I was definitely hooked. I guarantee that people from around the world will certainly be inspired. The “Microphone Pharaoh” is here and this article is certainly an indication of our appreciation for his music, his day to day life story and a chance for readers to get an in-depth look at the rising Hip-Hop star.

aero. is for real and there’s not much to say after the fact but what readers have to understand is that aero. is the epitome of what positivity and what hard-work is. Hip-Hop is his daily grind, simply put, Hip-Hop is his life. You will sense an intense impression that this dude is already great.

“I think Hip-Hop is getting bigger in the Philippines and we need to stay competitive and even step on each others’ toes a little bit so that we keep striving to be the best.”

He’s got the foundation, education, and vision which keeps him motivated to be on top of what he does. A son of a military man from the U.S. Navy, he grew up in different parts of the world and as he likes to call it, the Pacifics, which includes Guam, Japan, Subic, Hawaii, California before settling down in his hometown of Bacolod City. He later earned a degree in Business Management from the College of de La Salle so don’t be surprised why aero.’s vocabulary is far beyond the norm. His experiences in different places, different times, with different people, and life in general is what makes his lyrics fuse and evolve to what it is now.

What do people expect from your lyrics when you rap?

“It’s all about my everyday life experiences and they will notice how I stay away from the sex, drugs and violent lyrical content! Instead I rap in metaphors because I know a lot of the youth are listening to me and they make up what Hip-Hop is and in some way, it makes me feel like a responsible M.C.”

With that said, in your opinion, who is the best producer in the Philippine Hip-Hop scene?

“B-Roc because he is a perfectionist and he knows how an artist is suppose to sound on a beat and he just knows how to cater.”

aero. has been one of the most active personalities in Hip-Hop specifically in Bacolod and his first break came when he got a gig as a DJ at JAMIE 102.3 FM and living the lifestyle of a DJ guided him to grow musically and initially got known for his radio show called “PHAT SAT.”

He started rappin’ back in ’93 with a lot of East and West Coast influence, specifically; the Wu-Tang-Clan and Eminem. His immense talent reveals itself through many of his tracks and the years of writing music has truly paid off because he is definitely on a higher level, lyrically speaking.

“Everyday I strive to excel, I wasn’t given life to fail, I use all my might and my will, Everything I say on the mic is real…”

In June 2006, “6-1-0-0” which was part of aero.’s first E.P. garnered rave reviews and unquestionably put a stamp on his non-stop representation of Bacolod. He credits Francis M. as his biggest influence in his Hip-Hop quest; he dreams of collaborating with the greatest and proudly professes that he is a fan of other Pinoy Hip-Hop personalities such as; NimbusNine, God’s Will, Gloc-9, Stick Figgas, Masta Plann, S.V.C., Marquiss, People’s Future, Audible, DJ Arbie Won, Pamilia Dimagiba, D-coy, Pikaso, ill-j, and the 6000 Goonz. aero. has produced numerous mix tapes under his belt which includes: The Bacolod City Bandit Mixtape, The City of Smiles Slinger Mixtape, and The Piaya & Pama-Ad Festival Mixtape, and The Bacolod City Bandit Mixtape 2.

aero. along with Third World Productions brought “The Community Comes to Masskara” to Bacolod on October 19, 2007 and instantly became the biggest event in the history of the Masskara Festival in terms of attendance. It featured Nathan J, D-Coy, Artstrong, NimbusNine, God’s Will, SouthSide Souljah’s from Ilo-Ilo, Doomsville’s Finest from Dumagete, Ampon (Six The North Star & Abnormalities), Third World, Lil A.D., Slick, Mo Flow, Popoy and DJ Kid.

His hustle goes beyond rappin’ or performing. I’ve seen first hand what he does and what he wants to achieve. What makes aero. inspiring is his passion for Hip-Hop and how he lives it day in and day out.
